Tomorrow is my national holiday, y’all!! That’s right, the bday is right around the corner. I usually end up going out for drinks or just relaxing at home giving thanks and reflecting on the past year. Well, I have decided to take a different avenue tomorrow night.
I’ve found a new Toronto haunt where I know I will be passing a lot of my time in the near future. Moskito Bite is a fabulous new venue that opened in the downtown Toronto core. Emerge Showcase is an event that takes place every month at this fabulous venue, giving shine to the up and comers on the Toronto music scene. This baby belongs to Cindy Wilson and Ron Allen. You may know music impresario Cindy Wilson as the woman behind many artist’s careers in the city; as the organizer of The Revival jam sessions back in the day and through a host of other musical ventures in the city. Her partner Ron Allen is a Juno nominated producer, songwriter (T.I., Usher, Snow etc), and Strobe Records label owner. They both come together as a team with many knowledgeable years in the industry to nurture, support, and assist these young talented singers with their budding career. They offer them a place to learn about the industry, learn about their craft, and have the chance to actually have their work heard across different platforms. Sounds like a win all around to me! The talent that graces the stage is a smorgasbord of up and comers from every genre possible – country, jazz, folk, soul, rock…you name it, they are there representing.
I will be the first to tell you that I have no idea about any of the acts hitting the stage tomorrow, but that’s the joy in discovering new music and artists. I’m definitely all for it. Let me not forget to mention, the food at Bite is absolutely insane. It really should be illegal to consume such goodness. So really, you can’t go wrong with great music and great food.

I’m all about supporting this in anyway that I can, therefore that is where I will be ushering in a new life cycle and giving thanks. Let the festivities continue!!
