My bday has come and gone, but we are still in Gemini Season. And since y’all know me, you know that I am still apologetically celebrating. And it’s Black Music Month, so let the celebrations continue! With that thought in mind, I found this gem in my inbox that I had to share. This right here? A lovely musical gift from Incognito that cannot go unmentioned!
On June 24th, 2016 Incognito will be releasing their new album In Search Of Better Days. Bluey and crew consistently release phenomenal music for the masses based on societal events and world issues. Following in the footsteps or Nina Simone and Marvin Gaye in musical direction is an important note for Bluey. He goes on to say:
“We are living in troubled times and I see the plight of the young in my neighborhood, the refugee crisis in London and all over Europe. Corruption. Child abuse. There is political, religious and financial misguided ideology all around the globe,” expresses Bluey, the mastermind behind Incognito. “My trade is music and social awareness, and as such, I am fully aware of those In Search Of Better Days, including myself!”
Poignant indeed. The first single from In Search Of Better Days features the one and only Maysa on “All I Ever Wanted”. Incognito’s signature mellow, fine tuned jazz-tinged vibes are present on this beautiful track, and Maysa brings the melody, lyrics and vocals home.
