It is safe to say that some people you come across musically are born to do what they do. There are people who you hear in passing or see at a show, who literally move you and make your hair on the back of your neck stand up with just one note (thank you Ne-Yo). This artist is most definitely one of those particular artists. The first time I heard her sing, I was a bit overwhelmed and sat there in awe. I sat in the front of PJ Morton’s show at Billie’s Black and PJ called up this petite, chocolate brown diva to do her thing. And that she did. Her rendition of Gnarls Barkley’s “Crazy” was quite passionate. It made me question who this woman was and off I went to do some researching. I was fortunate to see her again at the Brown Baby Girl show, this time, she made Mary J Blige’s “Love Without A Limit” her own. KimberlyNichole belted out the song effortlessly, with such fervency, I believed that whoever she was singing to, would be a fool to keep on looking. There are very few singers who evoke goosebumps for me and believe when I tell you that KimberlyNichole is one of those singers. Here is a clip of her performance of “Love Without A Limit”:
Born In Seattle, Washington with a touch of Atlanta flavour from attending Spelman, and now with an added shot of New York City’s flamboyancy – you can see and hear that all experiences are interwoven in KimberlyNichole’s singing, writing and performance. From the few minutes she was on stage, all eyes were on her. There was no mistaking that Kimberly’Nichole had everyone entranced and thirsty for more to come. She is not a stranger to the stage at all, performing all over Atlanta’s music scene to rave reviews and enthusiastic crowds. And she has also been billed with acclaimed R&B acts Dwele, Eric Roberson, Bilal and Janelle Monae to name a few. Now is her time to shine in New York City and the woman is equipped with a sassy verve, lyrical prowess and vocal ability that will unquestionably leave you speechless. She is presently working on an album and when it’s available, you KNOW I will let y’all know.
