Home Ear To The Ground Vibin’ Out With Kellylee Evans

Vibin’ Out With Kellylee Evans

by amc

Hey Soulsters!

What`s the good word? Listen, today I needed some chill out vibes for the soul. You know, the type that brings you to higher highs without all the muss and fuss. I then remembered that I came across Kellylee Evans‘ new album I Remember which was released last month, and wanted to share it with you (if you were not up on it already). Exactly what I was looking for today.

Kellylee Evans is a Juno award-winning artist who infuses many musical genres in her work but is predominately known for her jazz and soul vibes. On her recent release I Remember on Universal Records, Evans decided to go the route of covering a few of her favourite hip hop and soul songs, however, her interpretations are not exactly what you would expect. I believe that’s what makes this album even sweeter. Jazz renditions of Eminem’s ”My Name Is,” Gladys Knight’s ”If I Were Your Woman” and John Legend’s ”Ordinary People” are all familiar and stellar. Besides, if Al Jarreau, Quincy Jones and Dee Dee Bridgewater agree that Evans is awesome, who are we not to agree? It is evident that Evans enjoys performing, the gleam in her eye as she sings is oh so bright. Also, who doesn’t love a diva who loves to perform barefoot? That my friends is Kellylee Evans.

Press Play on ”My Name Is”:

Evans is not a newcomer by any means, but this album may be the first for her garnering the much-deserved attention she is receiving States side. I do hope that y’all decide to press play on an album, and get to know Kellylee Evans a little bit better. She has only just begun.
