Hey, hey now. I mean, the flyer posted above should really speak in volumes to my Tdot soul junkies. Friday, November 22nd, 2013 is no doubt going to be the beginning of an annual pilgrimage to The Guvernment Entertainment Complex. Toronto promotor Ian Andre Espinet and soca prince Dr. Jay have come together to combine the sweet sounds of soul and soca on two mega stages for the SUR Music Festival, and the lineup is absolutely ridiculous.
Over on the Soul Kitchen Soundstage (#SoulKitchenSoundstage), you will be vibing out to the melodies of Toronto’s own Glenn Lewis – off of the release of his first album in 6 years, Shi Wisdom – Toronto’s newest up and coming soul sister, and the one and only Musiq Soulchild. The DJ’s mixing it down will be Jester, DJ Spoonz and Kid Kut. All of that goodness, all night long. But it doesn’t end there…
Over on Dr. Jay’s Soca Therapy Stage (#SocaTherapyStage), get ready to sweat with Fay-Ann Lyons, Bunji Garlin, Edwin Yearwood, Porgie & Murdah and Skinny Fabulous. DJ’s in the cut will be Dr. Jay, Marxman, Jump Up Kingz, Junya Menace, DJ 2Touch, DJ Flip and DJ Shy. When you purchase your ticket to the festival, it gives you ALL ACCESS to the entire complex. Do you hear me? ALL ACCESS to both stages. Believe when I tell you, this is going to be a night of epic proportions. Is there a word bigger than epic? If there is, feel free to use it right now.
