Look who’s back!
My word y’all, I was sick as all hell. Your girl was down dealing with a bad bout of bronchitis and everything was shifted to the back burner. There was no way that I could have put up anything here because I couldn’t even put a thought down on paper, never mind on these pages. Everything suffered across the board. But I’m back!! I have managed to get my voice back and I can actually compose a sentence or two. I call that progress. 🙂 So with that said, I am back on a regular basis with the goodness! I have come back with a little bit of a Christmas gift of sorts for my Toronto Soulsters (I haven’t forgotten the rest of you! Be patient!). My friend Ian Andre Espinet and his crew of DJ Starting From Scratch and DJ Jason Chambers will be celebrating their 15th year in old school with their highly anticipated annual event – Amnesia. This monthly old school event has kept everyone grooving to their favourite jams in the name of nostalgia, and every year has the streets buzzing about who took to the stage and tore the place down during their big shindig. This year, they are going big with an all-star lineup. And I mean huge. 12 iconic artists to celebrate 15 years. Now, of course, I can’t give away who the artists will be representing, but I can tell you that first up on the list is Legendary MC Grandmaster Melle Mel. If that’s not enough to get you out of your house, then stay tuned to Ian’s twitter account (but I gather you would much rather be at the show). Last year I brought you an interview with Karyn White on The Rhythm with AMC and fulfilled a dream by chatting with and meeting another one of my favourite MC’s of all time – Big Daddy Kane. Who knows what’s in store this time around!
So with that being said, I am giving away TWO pairs of tickets (that’s right, TWO) to the Amnesia 15th Anniversary Celebration taking place this Saturday, December 13th at The Sound Academy.
